K-frame - .32-20 / .327 Fed Mag cylinders
* Conversion cylinders for S&W DA revolvers have a problem with consistent cylinder to barrel gap. * .327 Mag cylinder - it would also be capable of .32 H&R Mag, .32 S&W Long & .32 S&W * .32-20 Actually in a modern steel cylinder it can be loaded up to pretty remarkable velocities for a 125+ year old cartridge. * Bowen Classic Arms - Hamilton Bowen offers calber conversion packages and will do them with the same style as S&W He considers the .32-20 an excellent choice. If one were to go the route of the Bowen conversion I think with the ballistics an adjustable sight K-frame would be the best platform, say a used but not abused M-15 I wonder if a speedloader for .38 special would work for the .32-20 diameter Anybody know the dimensions of a .32-20 case? Mr. J,
The 32/20 has a case (at the base) diameter of .353". The rim diameter is .408". .38 Special-.379" case base. .440" rim diameter. Wouldn't a Model 15 in that round be grand! The overall length is 1.592" for 32/20. Overall length for .38 Special's is 1.55" |

Well, kinda rules out an existing speedloader for the .32-20 cartridge but
it wouldn't really be required. I'm just thinking out loud here, but I would think a conversion for a Model 15 would include: 1 - a .32 Bbl. ( I wouldn't do this with a collectible K-32 ) 2 - a modified K-32 Cylinder. Am I missing annything? I think that either a 5 or 6" barrel might be a bit more efficient, but the Model 10 is a great candidate for the cartridge. Talk about your "boondocker's favorite!" Scott 10mm Auto... The most versatile auto pistol cartridge extant! Double Tap and 10mm Auto... when you're serious about survival! |

OK gents,
As long as were just kibitzing? How 'bout some machined inserts to allow the 32/20's to be run when desired, and the others when required? Like the .22 Jet's.... |

Spotteddog: I think that you have it backwards. You would require you to use inserts to use the .327 Federal Magnum cartridge. Perhaps it would work, perhaps not. I'll have to do some research.
