J & G sales has CS 45 "s in very good + condition for 429.00 + shipping and FFL transfer and background. I figure it all totals around 500.00 when it is said and done. is this a fair price do you think? and anybody have a CS45 and how do you like it. How is it for a CW piece. I know holsters are an issue but I like 3 gen. Smith Auto's. Are they as dependable as the other 3rd gen pistols.23.ounces unloaded.Comes with one mag with a finger extension. They also have sig p-6's 349.95 + shp and FFL transfer / b.g. check also. All info on pistol CS45 is appreciated.

Like you I enjoy the 3rd Generation pistols..but I have a CS45 that I want to put some Hogue grips on and it is not working..got a couple of tips from members so that is the next step..ordered the grips from S&W and so far 3 pair have not worked and will not work without trial and error filing on the grip panels..that is the only problem with mine..so far..have to get use to the flip when if fires but that comes with practice..and it sounds like a good price too boot..all5x

I had a CS 45. It was reliable and easy to carry, but just never gave me the accuracy I wanted. It was plenty accurate for it's intended use, just not what I wanted.

In my humble opinion, the CS45 is one sweet firearm. Lots of controversery about the grip--personally I love the grip. I had a cs45 a few years back and FOOLISHLY let it go for something else. The gunshop where I bought the CS45 also had a CS40. I picked up the CS45 and the CS40 laid there for 6 years untouched. I got to wanting another cs45 but couldn't find one. I went back to my gunshop 6 years later and picked up the CS40. I love it and it will never get away from me.
The CS40 is the same size and weight as the 45. here is a picture of my carry rig. I took a spare holster made by STRONG Holsters that was built to fit a Colt 2 inch DS/or Ruger SP 2 1/4 and remolded it to fit my CS40. Here is the pie plate target of my first seven rounds fired out of the CS40 at ten yards. Like I said before, there are LOTS of opinions out there about the CS series. I am not a gun expert but I like metal guns with hammers and fireing pins and safetys. I also love S&Ws. I should have never let my CS45 get away from me. (bad mistake) I paid $589.00 for my CS40 out the door brand new, about 2 months ago. They don't make the 40 anymore, and the CS9 and CS45 are now being offered to the LE market but I expect you could order one thru a dealer anyway. I think the current price is between $600 and $700 you can check on the S&W website in the LE section. Sorry for the long winded blow here, but I guess you can tell I like-um! If I ever run across another CS45 =it will be mine. No Matter Where You Go--There You Are. |

The CS45 is my carry firearm. I drill with it and enjoy target practice with it. It is not a bullseye target pistol, but it will put a 45acp bullet where you aim it with 10-15 yards. The only valid complaint that I have heard about it is that it is thicker than most guns its size, a small price to pay for the additional quality IMHO. I'm over 6'2" so it is easy for me to conceal, but some of the "girly boys" say it is too wide. They are entirely reliable. You can can buy additional finger extension magazines which do help the grip IMHO, because I do not like the loose pinky. I am also a big fan of the CS9. Not cheap, but a that would be a fair price around here. I paid $550 for mine NIB about 5 years ago. Get it, shoot it, enjoy it.

Just curious to this thread responders, but would you all do a CS45 over getting a 457 or a 4513? If so, why?

NO---I'd like to have all of those. Still like the CS series for concealed carry tho.

If I may weigh in on the subject, I would add a hearty +1 to JAREDSHS in opinion and range results. Plus I think it is just a PLEASURE to shoot! If you get one you won't believe how EASY they are to use effectively within 50'. They are absolutely one under-rated gun and one of the best of all so-called sub-compacts (esp. @ $450.00 OTD!).
P.S. It can eat ANY manufacturer, configuration, gr. wt. bullet you feed it without a hiccup! |

I tell you what, my CS45 was sort of an impulse buy, it was there, I like Smith autos, I wanted a small .45. If the Chief was there, and there was a 457S next to it, I would have gone with the 457S (S for stainless). Not saying that I don't like my Chief, but I think I would like a little added length in the grip, just a little. |

I own a CS 45 and love it. The problem was the factory hogue grip. I found a thread on here where several members made their own and decided that no everyone has time to do this so I asked several questions to several members and started making these custom grips myself. My e-mail is in my profile if you should want a set made for your pistol let me know.

Your's just look so much better than the ones I did for myself, I am tempted to have you make me set. Maybe if I spruce my chief up with some sort of coating it will need a better looking set of grips.
