Funny story that happened to me yesterday. My dad and I went to the range and then went by a couple of gun shops. He was tying to get me to pick something up at the 1st shop, but I told him I'm really holding out for a FBI S&W 1076. We then went to the next shop and low and behold.......

What are the chances of finding this? I'm going to try and get it verified by S&W. The gunshop owner said it was traded in by a retired FBI agent.

I have a Shorty 45 to compare this 1076 to:
- Single action just as crisp
- Slide to frame- much looser
- Barrel lockup, rear- much looser
- Barrel lockup, front- Good, Pretty close

Since my trigger is good, I'm not sure about the rest of the work they would perform. Please let us know what he did.

Isn't the 1339 (or was it 3913?) a 3rd gen pistol? I know where two NIB are and have thought about buying one, but not crazy about owning something I would not reload.

That doesn't make sense. FBI agents (or any federal LEO's for that matter) are not allowed to keep their issued weapon when they retire. IIRC, all FBI 1076's were returned to the FBI gun vault. Few were returned to SW, but many were destroyed.

1076's were commercially available and used by many other agencies other than the FBI...
