Here is my new Model 41 1958 vintage, came with a set of barrel weights, and the original sales receipt, dated Dec. 7 ,1958, only cost $113.00 out the door back then.
[IMG] [/IMG] [IMG] [/IMG]Funny you should mention that Revolver sight, I picked up a 7 inch slab side heavy barrel on e-bay a while back, while the powers that be some of the top big wigs in the collectors area called my barrel a lunch box special and why would anyone want to put a revolver sight on a the best target gun around. I wish I had kept that e-mail. IF you notice this 7 inch heavy barrel, since it lacks the rounded corner along the top length of the barrel, but there is the target sight. Also barrel is D&T for scope, factory job. Now a few weeks back I find this 5.5 inch on Gun Broker, with the revolver sight. I have met very few people with these, but I'm sure there are many out there, this one is NIB unfired. ![]() [IMG] [/IMG] [IMG] [/IMG]![]() This message has been edited. Last edited by: aeronut04, |

Beautiful. I have one 4 digits away, perhaps made the same day. Wish I had the other items that came with yours.

Hi again,
well you will probably fall over when you find this was in your State for sale, Gun Runner had it listed, not even on an auction, just for sale. I have one other 4 digit, but no box, earlier by 140 or so. Still I was surprised to find this set of weights had 4 holes in the bottom piece and the other set I have has only 2. |

Very interesting. Someday I should letter mine. As much as I love the 41, I have not ponied up the $$ for the counterweights or the .22 Short barrel and magazine. The primary thing I would be tempted by is a red ramp field barrel to go with the patridge and plain ramp version I have. I also wouldn't mind picking up the barrel they made for a short while with the revolver sight. Passed when I had the chance years ago, as it wasnt' a good target sight in comparison to the older 5.5 inch barrel sight. Looked good, and I should have picked it up just to have it.

That is nice! $113.00 in 1958. You know why they call it the good old days? Because they are gone!!!!

To me it's the internet, to think I was not quite 4 years old when that was purchased, and if that date isn't enough as well the day that will live in Infamy, although it was the anniversary, not the actual year of Pearl Harbor.
I have recently found 2 sets of barrel weights for my model 52-2. My first set I picked up with the pistol, and I feel that is the best and cheapest way to purchase them. Hey Jeff in Cinci, drop me an e-mail please. |

Hello,
Really a nice early 41 and to have the original reciept is amazing. It wasn't pictured but hopefully the early style magazine stayed with it as well. Great find! |

Well I really had no idea the magazines changed before the plastic followers, but when I removed it I can clearly see it's noting like the other ones, as they had more pieces to them.
Now I have one more of mine to check that I purchased a while back with 4 digits. |

Glad to hear the original magazine stayed with the gun.If you have an early parts sheet with it and look closely you can see the magazine drawing is different than later ones.

Those $110.00 dollars you paid (before tax) for your 41 have the same buying power as $795.26 in 2007 according to the "Inflation Calculator" at the US Department of Labor (http://stats.bls.gov/).
Used 41s are worth that much especially when in excellent condition, with the original box (and receipt!). And I dare say you've enjoyed that 41 many times over the years. Not a bad investment, not bad at all. Ed Skinner, ed@flat5.net, http://www.flat5.net/ (shooting notes), http://conventionalpistol.blogspot.com/ (shooting blog) |

Hi there,
I have never shot this, I recently purchased this on Gun Runner with barrel weights, at 1G. I have searched the house, and found I own at a total of 3 of the original mags that came with other 41s that I have purchased. |

Maybe someone out there has a more precise
date but the magazine design change seems to have happened late 1959. |

Must be so, I only have a few of the earliest 41s, and have purchased many spare metal follower mags whenever possible.
