2000 rounds through my M&P 9 in 2 months: 3 FTEs. the first 2 were in the first hundred rounds (i probably limp-wristed) and the last was at about 1200 rounds, using S&B Range-safe ammo on a day when the heat was over 100 degrees-- the casing probably expanded! This is my first gun and it shoots nice groups, works well, and is easy to clean. Do experienced shooters like it too?
My experience with the M&P9 has been similar to yours. I alternate with a 5906 at the range and shoot both about the same, so that is a testament how well the gun shoots, not the shooter. I tried different grips a few months ago and found that the large grip fits my hand and accuracy level best. I started with the medium and decided to try the large just to see if I improved or got worse, and as said on the M&P pistol forum the grips can make a difference in the trigger finger being in the optimal position as the trigger is squeezed.zorro49
Zorro, I shoot both my 5906 and M&P too. I have the opposite effect with the grips on the M&P. I like the large grips better and it feels better in my hand with them, more like the 5906, but no matter how I try, I just shoot more accurately with the medium grips.
There are 3 types of people in this world, those that make things happen, those that watch things happen, and those that wonder what the hell happened.

fiasconva, I joked with guys at the range who actually put the hogues on and then 2 days later took them off, that I turned a Smith auto into a Ruger. I have had the 1st generation Ruger's(2 P85's) and that is a chunk of metal to wrap around. Anyway, why I like the large grip on the M&P and then like the thinner stock grips on the 5906 is a mystery to me as well, but I know what feels right and controllable, especially when you go one-handed. zorro49
My wife came home with the M&P-9 about 2 months ago and we have put about 2,000rds through it and it has been flawless. Everything we have fed it shoots just fine. It's now on a steady diet of reloads and it is my #1 house gun. The accuracy just amazed me right out of the box.
