FWIW, we have had 3 homicides so far this year by .25s. A kidney shot, an exsanguination, and an eye socket shot.

ridewv, with all due respect, you are dead wrong about Browning making the Colt Model N Vest Pocket Hammerless. Colt made the Model N in Hartford. Browning never made any guns until relatively recently. FN made all the earlier Browning-marked guns. Perhaps your confusion arose because John M. Browning designed the Colt .25ACP Model N and .32ACP Model M, and early versions of the similar-looking Model M .32ACP actually state "Browning's Patent" on them.
Colt made the Model N in the United States and FN in Europe made the identical versions called the Baby Browning and the FN Baby. The wood-stocked Colt pictured that has an exposed hammer is the Automatic .25, and it WAS made by someone besides Colt. It was made by FIE in Florida after the 1968 Gun Control Act forbad the importation of the Colt Junior, which was the same design made in Spain by Astra. The Astra Cub is the same gun. Colt Juniors are marked "Made in Spain for Colt's." The FIE guns are not marked in any way to indicate they were not made by Colt, but they were not. The FIE Colts have an "OD" serial number prefix. Your Vest Pocket looks like a nice one. They are relatively easy to find in high condition, but are rapidly appreciating in price. Nice Model N boxes alone are bring several hundred dollars on eBay these days. |

Actually, Browning probably hasn't manufactured ANY firearms. They contract them out to various firms. FN, Miroku and many, many smaller companies.

Bullets are funny things. You never really know what's gooing to happen. In the vast majority of cases I've handled, the .25 is almost useless in a gunfight. Usually, if you shoot someone with one, and if they find out about it, they are really going to be pissed.
On the other hand, I had one case (only 1) where a bad guy was shot with a .25, and it dropped him like a bad habit. NRA Life Member Retired Police Detective '71-'01 / HR-218 Certified Navy Vet. (Aviation) '65-'69 United States Constitution (c) 1791 All Rights Reserved. |

Well, I've been outbid twice now. Perhaps I should give up.

Well, I gave up on the .25 ACP pistols of ANY stripe! I have since bid on a single-action CZ-70 chambered for the .32 ACP. Something tells me that this was a good decision!

Well I have both the Beretta 950 and the Mauser 1910 in 0.25. I find boht accurate out to 7 yds (inside a 4" circle). Fun to try out and shoot but I think something a tad larger (a Webley 0.455) will do more that irritate the recipient!Dave_n
