So I was riding past a hardware, general store, gun dealership and decided to stop to "just see" what they had in the way of handguns. I hadn't been there in over a year. Anyway I was taken by two really nice looking 1911's that I was not familiar with. One was a S&W Gunsite and the other was a Colt I believe "Agent", series 90. I did a search here and have learned a little about the Gunsite. I didn't get the serial number but I'd doubt if it was one of the first 500. The series 90 Colt I haven't found out much yet. But I was really impressed how nice both of these pieces felt. The price was just over $1,000 for either one, probably a little high, but it did get my interest peaked for a nice, smaller 1911. If you were in the market for a 1911 like these, which would you likely buy? I prefer blued but may consider stainless, and would like to keep it close to $1,000 or less.

The Gunsites are available on Gunbroker for approx $800, I paid approx $750 for two of mine. The Colt Agent is a fairly new gun so I'd be leery as problems may not have been worked out yet, also holsters would be a problem to get. You won't be disappointed with the Gunsite but shop around and save yourself about $200. Sounds like he is selling the at close to suggested retail.
The gunsight is a tweaked 1911PD. If you don't want the logo on the side and the brass bead front sight, you may be able to find a 1911PD that suits you at a better price.
I have a 1911SC with the scandium frame and they make very nice carry pieces.
