In early 1996, I bought a new 4013 from my local dealer. I was more into my Glocks and Sigs back then. I liked the 4013 well enough, but I was nuts for my P229 in .40 S&W.

At the time, I was doing quite well at my corporate job and decided to surprise my brother with something special for Christmas '96, the 4013 LNIB. He fired around 400 rounds through it and then tucked it away in the gun safe.

Now I'm into S&W 3rd generation pistols like crazy, but I never raised getting my old 4013 back from my brother . . . heck it was a Christmas gift for goodness sake.

Well, after I bought a 99%+ 4014 on consignment last month (Earlier post on 4014) and with my brother wanting to increase his gun fund to buy more old S&W K frames, he brought up the subject by saying, "Well, we got to figure a way to get that 4013 back to you." So we agreed on a Bro to Bro price and it came back home yesterday.

Since it had never been completely disassembled, cleaned, lubed and reassembled, I did that last night. Once reassembled it looked like a brand new gun again. I even got the extra magazine he purchased to go with the three that I gave him nearly 12 years ago.

Once I pick up the 4014 a week from this coming Saturday, I'll post some Salt & Pepper photos. Wink

Very cool story - I'll look forward to the pictures. Smiler

Shot-placement is king. Adequate penetration is queen. Everything else is angels dancing on the heads of pins. And Roze is the princess . . . Wink

Nice story. I don't have a brother I can do that with. But I do have two friends that we go to gunshows together. One is still in active law enforcement and the other is a retired officer like me.

We've owned each others guns several times, always sold or traded with the caveat that if it leaves it must be offered to one of the two first.
