I didn't want to hijack the other thread on this subject!
So suppose you have the traditional DA/SA with the so-called anti stress trigger. Is there any reason you can't carry the pistol IN the anti-stress mode rather than in the decocked mode? This would eliminate the long heavy DA pull entirely.

It can be done. Just make sure your holster does a good job of protecting the trigger and keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to fire.

Shooting a Sigma got me used to the SW99 DA trigger and the SW99 SA is similar to a 1911 with its short reset.

The anti-stress trigger system offers three trigger positions. (Long trigger press double action, long trigger press single action, and short trigger press single action) Go to the Walther internet site for the best description and explanation of the trigger system functionality. Smith&Wesson in their manuals red line laden verbiage never gave a coherent explanation. Walther on the other hand in their catalog gave a concise explanation along with actuation trigger press rates.

How you plan on utilizing the long press single action position is your option as opposed to asking someone else’s opinion.

AZ:

I didn't have an SW99, but did have both the P99c/AS and P99/AS.

There is NO reason you cannot carry your SW99 in the "anti-stress" mode, OTHER than you give away the safety aspect of the heavier (8.8lb)DA trigger/striker pull of the first round.

That additional heavy trigger pull is one reason I preferred the "AS" trigger.

IMO if you are in a crisis where you must pull the trigger then the additional 4.4lbs required for the DA vs the SA will make absolute no difference at any legal self defense range as to firing the weapon, but WILL give you 4.4lbs of extra safety before hear the bang.

Just personal opinion.. But I'm an old DA/SA type guy. Others might disagree.

Best Wishes,

Jesse

I am a dedicated Smith guy, but the Walther AS system is one of the best, I actually like their QA also(simply an AS action that is always in the short SA mode. Got them in 9, 40 and 45. good duty weapon, light enough to carry all day/night but substantial enough for sustained firing without discomfort or stress. The 45 is of course not the Walther brand, but it might as well be. Too bad it did not last. Also got the compact in 9mm, 11 rounds to go in a light package.
