Hi all,

Soon to be new gun owner here. Looking to get started with a used pistol to practice and learn on.

Local shop has like new used 5906, 5946 & SW99. Each come with original box, papers and one 10rd mag.

Should I get a 5906,5946/$269. or SW99/$289.?

or should I get a new Sigma with the extra mags and rebate? (about $334 after taxes and rebate) I'm not sure if i'm going to like the hard trigger pull on the sigma but I geuss I could deal with it.

thanks

If you are serious about becoming a good shot, you really can't go wrong with a good quality, adjustable-sighted .22 in single-action, double-action, or semi-auto. Learn to shoot it well and then step up to a bigger, more challenging caliber. I would start with a bigger caliber only if you can reload right from the start so you can have .22 level loads, even from a bigger gun.

thanks for your advice Rancher. My wife's gramps is giving me a 22. he has a bunch of guns. mostly long guns.

I liked them both a lot and could not decide which to get so I just bought them both a 5946 & SW99. both in 9mm.

Just waiting for the background check to come in.
