I am going to wind up(after a trade) with a very nice Md 5946,3 mags and the original box. I will have about $275 in this gun. Is this amount of money a fair amount when I need to get rid of it?
The 5946 is the 3rd gen all stainless steel full size DOA pistol. Older ones are set at half cock while the newer TSW line set at 1/4 cock.
I don't think you'll get hurt too bad at $275 (you might even make ($50-75 unless you trade it in at a dealer), but you aren't going to get rich selling it. The DOA guys tend to prefer the alloy guns because they carry lighter, while the guys looking for all steel pistols tend to prefer traditional double action (or even single action) guns.
Plenty of duty cops were well served by this pistol. If you like the trigger, it's a keeper.
If the horse don't pull you got to carry the load.

I liked mine so much I bought it from my department after we went to Glocks. If you keep it you can change the main spring to a lighter one and it will make a difference in the "heavyness of the trigger pull". Very dependable and it eats ammo of all kinds and keeps going. You did okay at $275. The police trade ins are everywhere now so resale may only be a bit more than that.
