I was woundering if anybody could tell me if it were possable to change the color of a whole gun.?I have a s&w 40v that is grey and would like to change it to black. Also how much you think it would cost? Thanks!
My gunsmith offers that service. I think the product he uses is Duracoat. He charges $175 to do the entire pistol. Your frame being polymer, you may have to dye it, to match the slide.
It is apparently available in a range of colors, and he has the capability to do patters, designs ect. IIRC HK black is one of the color choices. Hope this helps. Regards 18DAI.

Just the slide or the whole frame? It might be difficult to change the color of the plastic frame if you have the all-grey Sigma.

It can be dipped. I have a friend whose in process of getting his shop opened in a new location. I know he had spoken to the owner of a local gun shop and was told the shop can keep him as busy as he can stand with rifles and handguns. I'll get more info for you if you think you might be interested. I know they can dip everything from guns to car parts with finishes like camo and carbon fiber. I don't see why a regular black finish would be any different. If I understand correctly the dip tank is actually big enough to dip an entire golf cart. The carbon fiber finishes are really popular on aftermarket body parts for sports cars, etc. A shop in Florida that helped him get started actually got out of the gun end of it just for the reason that prep time is greater on a gun than on spoilers and fairings for cars but told him there was no shortage of work in the gun market.

I just sent my 4006 to be re-colored to this shop.
It was a CHP gun I got quite cheap but had holster wear. Rather than mess with buffing and stuff it will come back a nice Woodland Tan. Also got rid of the original grip and got a set of Houge Exotic Wood. Will post pics when it all comes back.
Those guns really are odd looking with the grey frame...but strangely interesting as well. I'd buy one if I could get it for under $200 since it's the original non-rail frame model and thus prone to cracking (though I've heard S&W's solution to this is to send the owner a new VE Sigma after the original cracks). Looking on gunbroker.com there are two SW40Vs with the grey frame listed right now.
