The PC has a 3 1/4" one.

I am no expert, but think I am sometimes.

Since when? They've made the short 945s in the past, but I've never seen a 3.5" 1911 out of S&W, including the PC.

I'd love to see a picture. Do you have a link, Bob?

I was a peripheral visionary. I could see the future, but only way off to the side.

I have never heard of it. Many of the knowledgable 1911 people consider anything below Commander (R) length (i.e. 4 1/4 inch barrel) to be unreliable, due to the drastically shortened length of travel and tighter tolerances, which are less forgiving and more prone to malfunctions.

Certainly the guns shorter than Commander (R) will have those annoying guide rods and generally require a tool to disassemble, which disqualifies it as a serious carry or combat pistol.

The better approach if you want smaller than Commander (R) was the now discontinued Concealed Carry Officer (R) (CCO) which combined the 6 round mag with the Commander (R) length slide, thus you had a shorter butt that would not print under clothing and the reliable action length that does not require tools for disassembly.
