I am looking for a 3913 and of course at a good price with little luck as of yet. I have found a 908 real reasonable but not sure if I would be as happy with in place of the 3913. I have read on this forum I think that the 908 is just a cheap down copy of the 3913. Is this about right or am I wrong? The 908 I am looking at has a matte finish can anyone tell me if that would be carbon or stainless steel with a finish? Would it be better to keep looking for the 3913 or really consider the 908?

Keep looking for a 3913. I think they have a few more "perks" than the 908's

I have two 3913s (1992 and 1996) and they are both great pistols. You will be rewarded for your patience. Good luck.

While the 908 is a superb pistol, in every respect, I too waited and found a 3913. Great pistols. Regards 18DAI.

Model 19 Combat Magnum. Everything you need in a revolver, and nothing you don't.

+2 I recently found one on GB after reading all the positive threads here. As mentioned, be patient & eventually you'll find one. I'm now looking for a 6906.

there are some minor differences (mag release). sloping front (like the 3913LS) and I do not think they have the ambi safety.

If you can grab a 908 for under 275 and its in good shape go for it...if not wait for a used 3913 to come around for 350 or so.

My 3913 cost me $325 bucks used (but looked brand new) plus 4 mags and a holster. The 908 just looks too cheap to me. Not that I would want to be staring down the barrel of one.

I have two of those, too, 1992 and 1997. They, too, are great pistols. A little more bulky, but nonetheless nice.

I forgot to mention in my earlier post that cops really liked, and I believe some still like, the 3913. Both mine lettered to the Los Angeles Police Revolver Athletic Club.

Heck, now that I think about it, all twelve of my 3rd generation pistols shoot great. Big Grin

If you lived in NH I'd sell you a very nice one for a whole lot less than that! Smiler
