I just picked up a used Sig 1911 to go along with my 945 and 952. The Sig is a matte finish stainless along the lines of the matte on my Smiths. The Sig has some scuffs and marking from being carried. What is the best method to pretty up my Sig? Thanks.

Many on this forum including myself have had excellent luck using a 3M Scotch-Brite pad ( I like the grey = fine) for removing holster rubs and small scatches from our satin stainless 3rd Gen S&W semis. However, I thought that the finish on the two S&W models that you mention above were polished flats with beadblasted highlighted areas, not satin stainless "matte". If so, then forget about the pad because the only way to refinish beadblasting is with beadblasting. I don't know anything about the Sig finish. |

I use a Dremel and a mildly abrasive wheel with mininal pressure to maintain a matte look. I use a more aggressive wheel and pressure for a brushed finish. I use Flitz and a felt wheel to achieve a polished finish.
Fast, easy and very effective... |
