Hello. Today I rented a Glock 17 at the local range to compare it to my week old Sigma. I have to say that the Sigma 9ve is just as good in general as the Glock. At 15 yards I group about the same with the same ammo. The Glock shot a little to the left and the Sigma shot a little high but both are plenty good for self defense purposes. I thought the 17 would be more accurate with a 4.5 inch barrel but not really. Now this is from a new shooter so YMMV. Frankly I thought the trigger on the 17 was a bit dangerous with a very light pull and I actually prefer the trigger on my Sigma. I did get 1 stovepipe on my sigma. Thats 1 in 400 rounds, O.K. I guess. I was hoping to go longer without a jam, this weapon is going to be used for SD.

I polished the sear/trigger internals on my sigma and cut 1/16 of an inch off of both sear springs and left the pigtail spring alone. There is still plenty of spring pressure to reset the sear/trigger and feel for SD that is as far as you can go. You got 4 springs! to reset the sear/trigger.

I did notice that it sometimes ejected brass straight up and not to the side. Is the normal or is my extractor/ejector not 100%? Anyway, thanks.

I must say that i really like my sw40ve. I'm not that great of a shot anyhow, so the trigger really isn't a detriment for me. Feels like my DA revolver pulls. The Glock grip angle doesn't fit my hand.

The day I bought my Sigma I intended to get a Glock..In this state one can only buy,from a dealer,a used Glock..Well they were side by side in the case and I had to fondle both..Well the Glock felt like a 2/4 and was almost double the price of the Sigma witch felt real good in hand..At that time I was not aware of the heavy trigger pull of the Sigma and must say when I first dry fired it I was sure something was broke..Well I am pleased with the Sigma but still I am messing with the trigger..
Just recieved a M&P9 and that trigger needs help also,just not as much as the Sigma..
Curse the Mass regs and their 10lb trigger..

you did pretty much what i did after i shot about 400-500 rds through mine
smoothed out and lightened up the trigger really brought my groups in,, ive never had a ftf or fte probably around 1000 rds through it and i am gettin set up to reload for it
lookin forward to shootin even more

I do not own a Sigma. I do own 2 Glocks, but with the latest price with the rebate I think I will pick me one up. Cant decide on a 2 tone or all black.

Glock did move to two pin locking blocks which is an advantage for cartridges heavier than 9mm. S&W 40 can break locking block pins with stout ammo. that said it will do damage to glock if it has 1 pin locking block. 2 pin will take some more rounds.

Have owned many Glocks over the years (2 Model 17s, 2 Model 19s, a Model 22, and a Model 24) but have not owned a Sigma due to the early reviews on the Sigma. Lets face it, the Sigma was a POS for the first number of years it was on the market. However, Sigmas have vastly improved since about 1999-2000 to present. Now willing to try one.

I wonder how the Sigma's are holding up with the military contracts overseas.

To me, the Sigma VE design is so close to the
average Glock, that I almost consider
them about the same as far as reliability.
Course, Glock gets the edge on the triggers,
but the rest, I think it's almost a toss as
far as mechanical reliability.
But for me, the price is the real deal breaker.
Being the cheapskate I am, I'm not going to pay
an extra $200 to get a Glock vs the Sigma
when they are almost the same animal to me.
If I'm going to pay Glock prices, I'd rather
get an M&P..
I haven't heard anything about the Sigmas that
went to Afghanistan. But I suspect they work
ok as long the the soldier does their part.
Cleaning them every once in a while will help...
I really wanted a black version when I got mine,
but they didn't have any local, and also most
places charge a premium for those vs stainless.
So I went for the regular stainless. Wasn't
worth the extra cost, and hassle of buying
online and paying the extra FFL fee. I paid
less buying local, even with the sales tax.
