Hi. Some time ago I saw some nice threads on the differences between the stepped and boxed slides. Also some nice photos. However, when I now search, if I try to open any previous threads with photos, I get an error message and can't view them. Can anyone give me any info as to the differences, and which came first, and which is considered to be better? Also, if anyone has a photo it would be great. I have a 5906 that I recently aquired, but I don't know for sure which it is. Any info that I could get would be greatly appreciated.

Others certainly know more than I do; if I read this right, Wesman mentions the standard factory rails are "step" in this thread. http://smith-wessonforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/5201039...401002501#8401002501
If I look at the rear of the slide of my standard 5906, I can see a small space between the slide rail and frame rail. It is small, but there is a space there. And the rails are "rounded" (step) cut. If I look at the same spot on a PC5906, the rails are square cut, with no space between the frame & slide rails. This is the box cut if I remember right.
