Does anyone know where I can buy the black slide for the .40 Sigma? Any idea as to what it might cost?

Thanks

You can try contacting SW to see if they'll sell you just a melonite coated slide as a part, though I don't know if they will. Parts from guns that have had the frame destroyed (apparent LE seizures) regularly show up on the auction sites, this is one potential source.

You could also simply have your slide coated with a different aftermarket coating such as Black T, do it at home with Duracote, etc.

I'd be interested to know if this is possible too...I really like the slide on the P-series Sigma pistols but they seem to be quite rare so I figure it might be easier to get a VE-series Sigma and put a P-series slide on it.

I've heard of Ruger and Sig Sauer "P" series, but what is a Sigma P-series?

I don't think S&W will sell just a slide for a Sigma. They will sell various parts that are prone to wear but I think slides, frames and maybe trigger assemblys are off limits. I would look into sending it in for refinishing or an aftermarket refinish. What is the "P" series? Do you mean the Allied Forces model with the melonite slide? You should be able to find one at a dealer or ask them to find/order one for you.

The Allied Forces models seemed to be fairly
hard to find at most stores. That's what I really
wanted, vs the stainless matte type finish.
But no one seemed to carry them, except for a few
online.
S&W might refinish it to black, but I don't know
for sure.
I saw one place online that seems to do that type
of thing, and their pictures look good. They also
do other mods.

Check the "examples" page for refinish examples.
The only problem with the refinish, is you can
expect it to wear with time, possibly get scratches,
etc.
Being the slide is stainless, any deep scratches
will really show up.
You can also take the stock stainless matte
finish and smooth and polish it into a near mirror
finish, so that's another option. I may do that
to mine if the slide ends up getting scratched
up too much with use. You can do that yourself, but
I know of a place I saw online that will do it for
$45. My slide actually had some slight marring up
on the top of the slide new from the factory.
Not bad, but you can see it if the light shines
the right way. It's possible the store might have
done it though with their handling.
I decided it wasn't worth worrying about, as I'll
probably end up scratching it more anyway.

I believe the Sigma "P" is for the ported sigmas. I've not handled one personaly so I'm not 100% possitive, Ive only seen pics of them off the internet.

Yeah that's what I was talking about. They have slides that are polished on the sides but melonite on the top and in the slide serrations as seen here:

Really good looking in my opinion.

Yea, I like that "P" type slide.
It would be pretty easy to make one.
You would have to melonite the
whole slide, and then polish the
sides down leaving black wherever
you wanted it.
I think a two tone using polished, and
the matte finish as a mix might look
pretty good too.
