How can you determine the actual manufacturer date of a pistol? Can it be accomplished using the serial number? Thanks Tom

Newer S&W pistols have the Julian Date on the label of the blue box. This date is the date the gun was cleared for market.

1985-1988. Specifically which year, haven't a clue. Great gun though. A real bowling pin killer.
