Greetings and salutations, neighbors. Photographs from the 40's show me holding toy guns more than any other object. First BB gun in grade school (Yeah, they did caution you about shooting your eye out back then.) Had a J.C.Higgins (Sears) rifle and 9-shot .22 revolver in high school. In 1960 as a high-school senior in Wilmington IL, I took that revolver to school (to give required speech in English class) and demonstrated to the class revolver safety and accurate shooting. Nobody thought anything was unusual. My Grandfather Stansberry gave me his 32-20 S&W revolver for graduaton. Had an FFL until the price went up. (Thanks, sheeple). Made my own leather holsters and belts. Did some pretty good tuning on Smith's but never could get the insides as shiny or smooth as that old 32-20. They really do NOT make them like they used to. Had a bullet casting business (Barrel-Of-Bullet brand) and found that 80% of people with superior handguns shot the cheapest stuff they could find. Hey, I tried! Did a little work for the Sheriff of Mchenry County (Low-status boat deputy). Hunted every year for most of my life. I've accumulated over 100 long and short guns. Love 'em all. An animal does not care what kind of gun it's been shot with. Consequently, as long as a gun works, ugly, crude, or old, I will gladly give it a home. I've stumbled across a few guns I am preserving for future generations. Everything else I will shoot. In the mountains last time I carried a .44 special 4" smith with pachmayers and handloads. At home and locally it's my old duty weapon, a Colt .45 lightweight stainless "Custom Carry Commander". As I write (I'm not home) 6 feet away in my bag is a Colt MkIV Series '80 Mustang 380 Auto somewhat customized (Armalloy coated slide, thin grips from sheetmetal, aluminum recoil spring guide, etc.) The (separate, I'm legal) magazine has a hardball lead over 4 Glaser frangible Safety Slug's. Born (and still) a poor man, I reloaded everything. Like, how else could I afford to sit on an old railroad tie and plink with a .458 Magnum? Personally, I'm a biolologist who works with people (instead of counting deer or researching fish or other honorable biological endeavors). I've learned a lot from this forum (LOVE the pictures) and in return I'd like to make my lifetime of experience available to those who are willing to listen (not all are).
