Folks, I have the unfortunate disposition of being born in the peoples republic of California where you can marry your best man friend anytime you want but you can't get a magazine that holds more than ten rounds...! Well anyway, I just purchased an M&P 45 full size yesterday. I have to wait 11 days to pick it up so I can "cool off" here in CA. Of course if I was nuts I would just use the other 25 guns I have in my safe but go figure...! I really wanted the SA XD 45 but I can't get one with the thumb safety here in CA as it is not on the "approved for sale" list here. Since I could not get that weapon I started researching the MP with the thumb safety. Sounds like a great gun. I kept putting one in my hand and it felt good. Better than the XD and the SIG. The sights just lined up and it balanced well. I'll let you all know how she does at the range in a month or so. Regards, Chris in Folsom, CA

Chris,
Welcome to the forum from Texas - sorry about the whole PRC thing.

Both the S&W 3913LS and 908 have a thumb "decock" safety. Check out that entire line too....the slimmer profile makes them great carry guns. The M&P's are also good based on feedback from friends. Good luck in the forum.

Hey Chris,

Welcome to the forum from a fellow hostage. I have to tip my hat to you... that is the BEST description of our situation I've seen in a long time. Big Grin

And I totally agree... it is just plain stupid to have to complete a DROS and waiting period on every single firearm when you're already an owner. I have a C&R FFL and also obtained a CA DOJ Certificate of Eligibility (COE), which requires full finger printing and passing a background check.

You sure would think there would be some consideration for already having passed muster with that process, but noooooo. Mad

Sorry... rant off, but you know what I mean.

Welcome from Texas Chris. Great forum, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.

Just bought my M&P 45 last week, plan to qualify with it and carry it as primary duty sidearm.

Thanks for all the welcome's guys...! I appreciate the sympathy to my native Californian situation. Anyway, I'm not going to let the bastards get me down. I went out today and paid for a Ruger MK III .22 in Stainless with the 6 7/8 barrel. I can't get if for 40 days or so now because here in CA we can only buy one handgun every 30 days....! So I have to go back in about 28 days and do all the paperwork again (DROS, and pay $26) since I bought another handgun 3 days ago. What I can do here is pay for it in full and lock it up so I can pick it up later. The Ruger SS Mark III's in 6 7/8 inch barrel have been hard to find around here and I knew in 30 days when I could buy another firearm (and only wait 11 days) it would be gone and out of stock for months....! This is a good way to reserve a weapon at the store with a specific serial number and pick it up after the 30 days waiting time in between weapons. Of course there's an 11 day waiting period on top of that.......... Well in the end, I get what I want, I just have to wait longer! Sorry to rant but I figure you guys would understand. By the way, do you think with all these extra trips to the gunstore that I am contributing to global warming...? Regards, Chris

Welcome from Michigan.

I like the M&P and the XD. Solution? One of each. Better? Two of each.
