Anyone do any serious shooting with their 620? How are they holding up and how has the accuracy been? Traded mine a while back but i am really feeling like getting back into one.

I've had a M620 for at least two years now and so far so good. The gun fits me well and I like shooting it. I don't shoot competition but I do try to put some rounds through it each time I go out to shoot. This is the gun I take with me when I hike or go camping. I reload my own ammo so I fire as many rounds as I want and don't even consider the cost of the ammo. I know this gun has a bad rep as it has the two piece barrel, MIM parts, and the lock. On this particular model I'm not sure if any of these have been an issue as far as failures. I didn't purchase this gun myself. It was sent to me as a replacement by S&W.

I love the 620. Closest to the old Model 66, except better! 7 shots, magnum, L frame, so no issues about durability, the hammer and trigger are flash chromed, the barrel has the more attractive (to me, anyway) profile, it has a round butt which, with proper grips aids in concealment and is better for smaller hands. Remember, the best of the best in the 70s as far as this type of revolver was concerned was the NIS/FBI run of 19s - four inch round butt. Now you can get the same thing only more durable, stainless and produced on modern machines. The two piece barrel allows easier fitting, according to the engineers at the factory, as it is easier to control the B/C gap. Not being an engineer, i have to trust them on this one, however, the Dan Wesson two piece barrel has certainly never been criticized in the performance department, and the S&W version is about the same, except for the fact that the S&W is not made to be owner removed. I don't have a problem with MIM or two piece barrels. Truthfully, I can do without the lock, but its presence is not giving me a case of the vapors either. |

I had a M619 (fixed sight version of the M620) for well over a year but sold it off. I should have kept it since it was well balanced and very accurate. It felt more like a K frame than a L frame IMO.

I was just admiring the flash chrome tigger/hammer on the 620 rental gun at the range today. I want to do something like that for the trigger/hammer on my DAO M64. Maybe Robar NP3.
