The hammer on my new 60-9. I got it on Gunbroker for $450. Its NIB and prelock but i probably overpaid. I am up in the air about the hammer. i will send it to Smith to work the action and maybe change the front sight. Any opinions on the hammer?

The spur is a pocket-hangin' son of a gun, but if you're carrying it in a normal holster, it probably isn't a real problem.
I bobbed the hammer on my 36. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Yes, a revolver IS a pistol!!! --------------------- Ten percent of the people think, ten percent think they think, and the remaining eighty percent would rather die than think |

I'd suggest sticking with the stock hammer configuration for the time being, and see how you like it. You can always have it bobbed later, if your experience suggests that the modification would be valuable.
Of course, if you already have actual experience with a similar gun, go ahead and do it: who cares what other people may think. Don't worry about overpaying. Presumably you thought the price was fair at the time you handed over your money, so there's no point in second-guessing yourself now. Anyway, the Model 60 is one of the best snubbies around, if you like snubbies. |

I also commonly use just an untucked t-shirt as a cover garment in the GA heat and that doesn't always allow for the cleanest draw. A fixed sighted revolver with smooth wood boot grips and a bobbed or concealed hammer is about the slickest, most snag free gun I've ever carried. Bob it! |

I had my smith do an action job and chamfer the chambers on my m.60 357. Also had him bob the hammer so I could still thumb cock to single action but not snag clothing. works graet, nice pocket revolver.
