I've been looking for one for a while now. And after complaining on another thread about a known gun flipper wanting $1100 for one, I lucked out and found one for $450. I think I'll buy more Smiths with the extra $650.

Very nice!

I've got a 4" 57 myself but would love another in stainless. I've seen 6" 657's but have yet to see a 4" 657 in person that was for sale.

I have been looking for one, but not too hard.
The pic of yours does stir me to envy, however.

I've been searching for a 4 inch 657 for years. Very few made their way into Canada and those that have them aren't selling. Great find !

I just made a deal with a forum member for a NIB 657 Mountain Gun. I've been looking for one of these for a while.

Although I'm paying considerably more than what you did, I still think it's worth it cuz I'm in love with the .41 mag and this is the gun I've been wanting. It's going to be a working gun for me...it will accompany me while checking my trap lines and while snow shoeing.

Still, I count myself lucky to have found one!

Congratulations! The S&W 657 4-inch .41Magnum is really difficult to acquire. Especially in Kaliformexistan. I've got a NIB in the dark recesses of my safe, but couldn't find another. So.... I had one built. I purchased a 657 6-inch barrel, a cylinder assembly, a used 629, and had a gunsmith work it over. The cylinder assembly was fit to the frame, barrel put on and cut to 4 inches with a nice crown, and a custom sight added. Now, I've got a nice shooter for a lot less than that FF place wants.

I just picked up an excellent 657 4" too for $450 with Safariland and Galco holsters. It also came with speedloaders and pouches.
It has the original stocks. This thing was bought new and barely fired.

I wish I could show pictures!
