I heard about the 520 for a few years now. Could someone please post a very short history and some photos. I've seen some photos on the forum, why did NY get rid of them??

The NYSP never took delivery of these, there was no getting rid of em. The factory made the mistake of showing the NYSP the new L frame models just prior to the planned delivery of the M520, and the agency changed their mind and went with the new model instead (M581/586/681/686, one of em anyway). Since S&W was in the process of completing the production run of the M520, the hurried to get them ready and shipped them to US based distributors instead. This is one of the reasons that very few of the M520's actually have grips that number to a particular gun, the factory just slapped grips on the guns in process and rushed them into distribution. The M520 was the only N frame 357 Mag made with fixed sights. Neat model, it took quite a few years for these to gain any collector appeal, and values stayed low for many many years, only catching on in the past 5-8 years or so.
