Great gun, feralmerril!
You are lucky to have spotted one back then.
Do you know what is the difference between Lew Horton ones and Performance Center 3" 66-6 Carry Comps?

Gress, I dont! My serial # matchs the horton batch from what I read elsewhere and the sheet came with the gun. Mine was slightly used when I bought it, as was the other I seen for sale.
The other one differed by haveing a ivory diamound inlet in the same wood grip I have.
I THINK that horton didnt get all, and remainder probley were sent to dealers. I probley should get a letter from smith. I didnt get the original box either. I bought mine from "The gunshop" in lancaster calif. The well known Jack First used to own the shop prior to the newer owner before he went to Rapid City in south dakota. I must have bought at least 50 guns from jack through the years. The santa fe gunshop in palmdale had the other.
I have bought many rare guns from jack. Once in about 1971 I bought a NEW winchester model 63 new in the box WITH the hanging tags, box and manuel. The gun was made in the last of production in 1957! Jack seemed to have "in,s" all over the country to get old/new stuff!

Wow, what a story!
Seems Jack knew how to make money and make us happy. Many dealers trying to get special orders and then keep a gun for years to sell it later as NOS for premium.
I've just got mine 66-6 PC carry comp as NOS from a guy for a fortune Eeker
Here is the gun I bought. NOS whith production date perhaps at the end of 2004 or very beginning of 2005 as the envelop of the test-fired case shows 01-25-05.
I am interested to learn from you and others here on the differences of the mods and editions and specifically to 66 Performance Center ones.

I sometimes thought jacks game was to take new stock, fire a few rounds in the basement and set them out as used! I bought a colt SAA, python, 25-5 and others out of the "used case" and couldnt see a scratch on them! He might have sold a lot that way slightly under full retail pop! I wont complain, I have a big part of my collection from him!

Hey Gress,
Sorry, I have not been online in a while. These grips are what came with my new M60 Pro straight from S&W.
I love it. I carry my 642 in my purse, but when I don't carry my purse, I am wearing this one.

Deek,
Nice gun, nice grips.
Do you like them at the range?
Which year is your M60 Pro, so I can try identifying the grips in S&W nomenclature.
I really like them.

I love it! I'd rather shoot 38 because it does have quite a kick with 357. When I shoot .357 I usually wear a glove because the diamond cut will dig in. I have the same problem with my 1911sc but maybe it is just because I am a chick. For this same reason, I like pretty guns and this one fits that bill.

A few months ago, I saw my first K-Comp revolver for sale in a local gun shop. I wasn't feeling well, so I just made a quick pass through the shop and went home. A couple of days later I went back to the store ready to check it out and buy it. Unfortunately, I waited too long and it was gone. I'm still kicking myself about that one...the asking price was $500.00. Oh well, they call them "grail guns" for a reason.

Regards,

Dave
