Anyone out there have reliable information on the various rumors of

1) "2 piece barrel won't stand up" to competition;

2) "scandium" frame is too light to handle well and stay on target for speed steel, etc.

Looking at a "NIB" model for $800 cash. I've got a 627PC that I LOVE for those events.....is this a safe queen/BBQ gun, or what?

I have never heard any of these rumors myself. You might want to go to the folks starting the rumors and ask them for the basis of their statements.

For question number one, the multi piece, tensioned, revolver barrel design has been in use for somewhere around four decades now. So far it has stood up just fine.

As to question number two. Whether it is "too light" will depend on the shooters skill.

Yes, I do own and shoot both. Got my first 8 shot Model 627 eleven years ago. I have only had the 5" Model 327 two or three years now.

Can you elaborate more comparing the 627/327 shooting experience? And is $800 for "NIB" an otherwise 'reasonable' price?....plus shipping...

oh....that is a wonderful little assemblage of remedies you have posted....[lust mode /ON]

The two piece barrels can loosen up with lots of shooting I have had two shrouds loosen, but with proper torquing with locktite it solves the problem. If one loosens just call S&W customer service for a prepaid shipping label and they will fix it.
