Can someone tell me what smith & wesson holsters fit a model 624 4" barrel? Would like to buy a used holster, but need the correct numbers that are stamped on the back of the holsters...

I have been very happy with a Don Hume 721-OT No. 2-4 for a 625 Mountain Gun. This holster is an owb pancake style that should fit a 4" 624 perfectly. This same holster is also available in a thumb-break style.

Hey Flat,

Welcome to SWF.

I assume you are asking about S & W branded holsters?

Here is a link to the 1979 S & W holster catalog. Lots of info here about the old S & W holsters. (Scroll about half-way down the page.) http://smith-wessonforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/5301039...971060961#5971060961

If you had an email address in your profile I could send you this S & W holster chart.

(click for bigger)

If this is too small for you to read, you can send me an email and I'll reply to it with the chart.

Your model 624 isn't listed in the chart, but it would take the same holster as the model 27.

Here's a model number deciphering chart:
The S&W numbering system for holsters was as follows:
First letter B means black, no letter means russet.
Next 2 numbers are the holster style number.
Next 2 numbers are the holster size i.d.
Last letter W is basketweave, F is floral carved, no letter is plain.
So:
B22-26W is a black (B) model 22 lined holster for a 6 or 6 1/2" N frame revolver (size number 26) in basketweave (W) finish.
22-26 is the same holster in russet w/ plain finish;
22-26C is the same holster in russet, floral carved finish.

Basically, for a belt holster, if the last two numbers are "24", it is for a 4" N-frame. The shoulder holsters are different.

This is probably more than you wanted to know. But there's nothing simple about S & W.
