Damn Giz... that's exactly what I was thinking of doing with my 7 1/2" Bisley Blackhawk... who did the work? Was the barrel bobbed or fitted with a new one?

Gunhacker,

The barrel was shortened, recrowned, and the sight reused. I would like to get a Bowen rear sight on it next. Both Clements and Bowen offer this service on their websites at a very reasonable cost. I think most local gunsmiths could do the job also. Have it Taylor throated at the same time and watch your groups shrink in half. For the $150 cost it is the best thing you can do for accuracy.

I have a thing for 5 inch guns and really liked the way this one is balanced in the hand. The Bisley gripframe really shines with a shorter barrel gun and full house magnums.

Here is my King. Model 57, no dash, .41 Magnum.
I busted a gallon milk bottle with it at 250 yards. Some say luck, some say...well, you know.

Here's a 1959 M48 former safe queen with unfired 22lr cylinder that I have rescued to make into a safe king. Was going to shoot the gun today, but to wade the mud I would need a pair of hip-boots, so I passed for another day of sun before trying again.

I also have a new 610-3 that I have as yet to fire that I had also loaded into the trunk for the range today. Then there was the Marlin 981T 22lr bolt tube feed that is in the trunk also. As I said will try again tomorrow.

Sorry, not a Smith, but these are a pair of second gen Colt's (late 1960's) that I will shoot every weekend from now until November. They have probably 60,00 to 80,000 round through each. Cowboy Actin Shooting is my game.

Well Jimbo what is a die hard Colt guy doing over here? I got a pair of Colts almost like the ones in your picture that also get a good workout April thru November. Hope to see you on the range soon.

Well I am headed to range to shoot the new to me former safe queen 48 22 mag and my new 610-3 10mm with holographic sight. I also have a new Marlin 981T BA 22lr to sight in and have some general fun with shooting. As cheap as 22 ammo is it does not put a strain on the fun like my hand loaded 357 & 10 mm do when I take them to the range.
