The Outside covering of my case is Black??
I hear you on the 357 magnum, I have a Dan Wesson 15-2 w/ 2-1/2" barrel & it's a great shooter but I wouldn't want to carry it for an extended period of time, Just too Heavy Compaired to an Airweight or Airlite..

OK Rodger That!!
I just wondered why anyone would have polished the case hardning off the trigger?? It looks good but would have removed the case hardening & made the part weaker..
I like the front insert sight, Thought about ordering one from S&W the next time I order but realy want to keep my NIB 342Ti as factory as possible, but I'm gonna Carry this little beast.

I just got a silver 342Ti pre-lock off of gunbroker. I am thinking of having everything but the cylinder refinished in black by Smith & Wesson's Performance Center. Gentleman I spoke with said they could do it. What do you'all think?

I also want to replace all of the MIM. Has anyone done this or have suggestions on who would do a good job?

Also, the seller said the trigger had a hollow back (MIM) - can a MIM trigger still be case hardened?

You will lower the value by having it refinished.
I could be wrong but I don't believe MIM parts can be swaped with forged.

I called S&W's Performance Center and asked if they could refinish a used silver 342Ti (less the titanium cylinder) to a factory black finish, the same as a 342PD or M&P, with the white lettering. They said they could do that.

What was the Answer about swapping the MIM parts for Forged Flash Chromed??
This would be an interesting upgrade & would still leave the original parts unaltered in the event the Revolver was ever sold..
I've replaced those Dymondwood factory grips with some Eagle Secret Service Grips, I haven't left the House armed without this 342Ti since I aquired it..The #1 Carry Piece..

HEADKNOCKER, I have not asked the question to S&W PC yet. I'll post here if and when I find anything out.

f2, what price did they quote? I'm in the same boat. I recently picked up a 342ti from Kittery Trading Post, I thought I could live with the finish then I took the grips off and found things were even worse. I was thinking of going with the Diamond Kote finish as I wasn't aware the factory was willing to refinish any aluminum revolvers

JumpinJack, They quoted me $180.00 (I'm guessing not to include return shipping, though I did not ask). The same price listed on their Peformance Center page.
