I'm not sure who the bigger idiots are, the Fugates or idiots that pay their overinflated prices... It is dumbass buyers who encourage behavior like his because they have more money than brains and the Fugates know it. I don't care how much I want a gun I will not pay 20+% over going retail value, probably not even 10%.

Fools and their money....

If you don't mind paying a HIGH premium price for a gun that may or may not be described truthfully, buy from him. I strongly believe that his "positives" come from schill buyers or people with more money than brains.

Even so, if a buyer does later research and sees how bad he overpaid he will not post neg feedback due to fear of getting neg feedback back...

I don't think they have shills, and I understand your POV. I don't like being spammed, and I don't like the fact that they were banned but still used this site for their own purposes and gain. This is just chickens coming home to roost. I am positive they don't think they have done anything wrong.

I punish bad behavior and reward good. They lost my business and many others for good because they got greedy and thought rules didn't apply to them. The market corrects but sometimes it needs a hand. I don't think for a minute that this will drive them out of business, but folks with a conscience can be informed and vote with their dollars. I know I would have bought from them prior to this thread, as a matter of fact I was seconds away and saw a suspicious email in my inbox. Then I saw this thread. I am glad I got the opportunity to know the predatory practices for my own peace of mind.

phnx:

I don't think it is relevant to the issue here that one or two or two hundred buyers were satisfied with their dealings with the Fugates. I think the spamming of the members was bad enough, but the open challenge to Para (and thus the forum) was the icing on the cake.

I also question buying under one name and selling under another. Doing so can lead the initial seller into thinking they are selling to a collector or shooter and getting a fair price. They have no way to know that this buyer will simply change names and resell the gun at a higher price. And, there is no easy way to connect the two names so they could check if they wanted.

Of course, the Fugates may tell the seller they are buying it for resale and that they, therefore, will only pay "wholesale" but I don't recall any forum members relating such an experience here.

But, I could be mistaken.

I'm not suggesting these actions are illegal, just that they bother me enough that, as I said on a prior post, I didn't push the "buy-now" button on a Winchester Model 12 they had.

But i did just recive my second S&W from Fugate Firearms fast and as discribed.

I don't think the price of $800 was high for the Model 58 blue 96% i'm fondling right now.

Whats wrong with profit?

Since you ask the question:

Why there's nothing wrong with profit. Congrats on your purchase.

BTW, there is a NIB Model 58 on GunsAmerica for $745.00.

I didn't check the Blue Book for a value on a 95-98% Model 58, but it seems a bit high to me.

Maybe it's just me, but the NIB seems a better deal.

I see nothing at all wrong with profit...
That is business...capitalism.
We,here in America ALL rely on PROFIT to survive...No matter if We make cars, run a grocery store, work in an office...or sell guns.
If there is no profit,no one prospers.
And Yes,a NIB gun is better that a 96% gun,but We are all free to choose what We buy,and who We buy from.
I,too had a couple of deals with the Fugates...and was treated fairly.
They never sent ME another "spam" email...
There was a post yesterday,(Tuesday,April 22)
from a guy who sounded happy with His .22 rifle He bought from them.
There DO seem to be several people who have dealt there,(Fugate) and are happy....
My .02...

I swear this thread is like a game of Whack-A-Mole . As soon as you point out that profit is not the problem, bad business practices are, up pops someone else who obviously did not read the thread asking "what's wrong with profit?".

Uh dunno, what's wrong with theft of service?

Then in chimes the guy who bought a gun and it arrived! Again, not the issue.

Uh dunno, What's wrong with harassing emails?

I am guessing these guys fall into two categories, people who bought and are embarrassed and want to defend their decision. Don't worry guys, no one hates you. The second group are people who have no reading comprehension (there are a lot of them on the internet) or are too lazy to read a thread and find it easier to ask the same question over and over again that has been answered a few posts back.

Only your conscious will tell you if further transactions are a good idea.

And the prostitute said " I'm a Capitalist too!"
Should we all let her conscience be her guide? Maybe this is why America's moral behaviour is rapidly decaying?

Got an e-mail last night from "fugotti@mchsi.com" with an offer to buy a handgun I had listed in the Classifieds that was already sold. He offered over $100 more than I asked. The e-mail came from the same "mchsi.com" ISP, and Fugate is pronounced "fugotti," isn't it? Coincidence? Roll Eyes

I would assume that's Fugate as I was emailed as well. He also signed his name as "Matt"

Kudos to "Noah Zark" and all of the others SELLERS who have not been swayed by Fugate's generous offer to buy their handgun for a higher amount AFTER they listed it as SPF. This forum is one of the best out there because of the honesty and integrity of it's members. Offers to buy a SELLER'S SPF handgun ranks pretty low in my book and IMHO, should get your IP address blocked from accessing the site, regardless of who you are.
