For those who make presumptions, I have read this thread. If you want to sell a gun to someone for $350 and they subsequently sell it for $700 YOU are the fool not the guy who bought it and sold it for the higher price.

You can label it "harvesting" or whatever you wish but the man knows the market and is carrying out legimate activity.

The other fool is the guy who paid $700 for a gun he could have bought for $350 had he shopped and been informed.

Ignorance sucks.

Dean,

Here is an example of a harassing email from the Fugates. It will probably prompt another, but I think it speaks for itself. I received this on 9th of April. I have no problem with a free market, I do have a problem with spammers and harvesting email addresses. It is glaringly obvious you have not grasped the nature of the complaint.

" It was a night a lot like this night. I was on the world wide web looking for some information about a Smith & Wesson 34 kit gun I had just purchased. I came across a link that said Smith-Wessonforum.com. I clicked my mouse quickly to see what this was all about. There is was a whole new world for my eyes and soul. I clicked and clicked the night through reading and reading all the knowledge my mind could take in. It was something I had not felt since I was a little child. Like a new stiff pair of tough skins ready to be broken in. I soon registered and waited my approval. Checking my e-mail every 5 minutes it seemed and then it came, I was approved. I could look places I had never looked before and post things on my favorite threads. Not that I could add anything to this vast new world, but I tried. I soon found a wonderful place called the classifieds and if you have never heard of it well let me just say it was like a waterfall of Smith & Wesson part, accessories , and guns. Yes I said guns. I quickly made friends with some of the movers and shakers of the classifieds. This was like a dream come true I was now with the elite Smith people. At first my head was in a fog and spinning for all the action. It felt as if Horace Smith and Daniel B. Wesson were looking down on me. This was truly a great day in my life. I was going along with the flow of things and not knowing any better at the time I fell in with the wrong crowd. Cousin Elmer and Hammerdown led me down the wrong path. Soon I was buying Smith and Wesson everything. It was like a drug I could not stop. Buying things at asking price without asking for pictures or offering to trade my prized Astra. I was a junky plain and simple. One day it all came crashing down when I got the ill fated e-mail from a man they call Para. It was like the end of the world for me. I was banned for the forum. At first I did not know what to do. I went from computer to computer just to get one more hit to last me through the day. That was it I was done and my one and only fix to my addiction was snatched away in a flash. I was lost in a big world with no one to turn to. I took this as a sign to stop and to be thankful someone was looking out for me. Things are all better now and my addiction has subsided. I sometime think back to the days of hanging out in the lounge with my friends talking about the new pawn shop finds or waiting for a reply about the D.O.B of my Smith I had got the day before. It seems like only yesterday but wait it was yesterday. What is happing to me? I black out and find myself with Smith item on my door step. I feel like there is something going on I can’t control. Oh my god it is happing again someone help…………To be continued………

Like so many who undertake arduous journeys, I left a city of wise men and came back to a polis of fools. Ignorance, like time, brooks no returns.

I don't agree with what the guy has done with the e-mails. I was just addressing his buying and re-selling. I won't buy from the guy.

There are some very well respected members of this forum who happen to be licensed dealers, and they have somehow managed to conduct transactions here for years without pooing in the nest.
DeanD, If you can profit on an item WITHOUT

1 Harrassing emails
2 Spam
3 Misrepresentation (Hiding your identity by using at least five different names) How many names does a legitimate business need anyway?
4 Coercion
5 Selling an item you don't even yet possess.
6 Buying merchandise under false pretenses (getting between two parties that have already made a deal, and telling the seller you will give him more if he welches, while telling the buyer that it's a piece of junk, won't letter, etc.)
7 Damaging a purchased item (whether intentional or not) and either returning it to the seller as unacceptable or trying to renegotiate the deal.
8 Using a classifieds section FREE OF CHARGE (thanks again Para) to conduct business DESPITE polite warnings to cease, not-so-polite warnings to cease, banishment, re-registration, banishment again, and finally using shills or fraudulent memberships to continue to do business for free.
9 Gloating about it,

well then more power to you. If however, you consider the above traits to be smart, savvy, astute, legitimate, or even the tiniest bit ethical, then please refrain from doing business with this "ignorant fool".

Please, capitalism (harvesting) is not on trial ...intimidation, fraud, & unscrupulous sales tactics.....

Have other groups or forums had to deal with these guys? Do they pester the members of SWCA? (members other than those on this forum)? Do they hang out in the gun-broker forums, AR-15...?

hmmph, the great Fugate-Gate of '08.

+ 1 CombatController, Rugskipper, 44wheelman, Wingwiper, ishootblanks, and ladder13.

DeanD, there is a lot more to Mr. Fugate than simply buying and reselling guns. I had my own FFL for 12 years (1994-2006) and never met anyone like him.
