Fugate, offended apparently by the forum member lowballing the poster, told the seller he'd been had and offered $800 for the gun Fugate claimed was worth $1000.00

Makes a good story, but I don't recall that happening. I tried to find anything similar, but couldn't.

If it didn't happen, maybe one of you guys more familiar with the start of the problems (before the spam) could call Fugate out on his claims and provide links to the truth, if there are any.

Here's the link to the thread Bob (straightshooter1) is speaking of. Interesting how the Fugates try to explain their mis-deeds!!

Do you have to be a member of "THR" to view the thread? Seems I had a membership over there some years ago...but never wasted any time over there...this place is fun enough. Smiler

Ir appears that someone has deleted the link that A.G. refered to. At least it won't come up for me

A.G. -- Slim, the link is "good" -- it's just that the whole forum is OFF LINE right now. Try again later.

I'm probably going to end up getting banned over there....restraint is something I sometimes fail to exercise.

I didn't like the whole way the Phewgate thing was being handled on THR and quit the forum by changing my email address to a non-existent one. Since my new email address can't be verified, I can't post or view the classifieds.

I can still read all the other posts, but it means that I can't see what baloney the Fugates are up to in the classifieds. I really don't care, since THR seems not to care about them either.

I really can't complain about how THR forum handled the FUGATE thread --- they have a specific "area" for discussion on dealers and sales transactions and they "rightfully" moved the thread there. That is simply their policy on how this type of discussion is handled.

Compare it to the rules on this forum --- Para sets the rules and they are expected to be followed. It's the same there.

Unfortunately, the tone got too heated and the thread is now "locked".

I saw the following as someone's signature on THR, it's a good rule of thumb when posting : "Think, write, think, edit, think...then post"

There also was a thread over on GlockTalk about the Fugates and their trolling methods on gun forums.

I just read this thread's 1st and latest page and I've got to say, I thought this Fugate Firearms looked like they were WAY overpriced...
Interesting.
Won't be buying anything from them; especially not my first S&W.

I must say, this guy Fugate is alive and well as I just got an e-mail from him.
I am not happy with that.
I did answer his e-mail, and here is how it went:

e-mail from FUGATE ---

Sir,

Apparently your tactics are as described.
I call them unethical.
You are hereby instructed to remove me from your list.

It seems that you have tapped into the S&W Forum to obtain information that would give you cause to answer my post with an appropriate answer.
This will be noted as such on the S&W Forum to serve as a warning to others of your intrusive and uninvited way of doing business.

However I obtain my first S&W, it will be of no concern to you.
Good day.

I find it amusing that this idiot keeps attempting to intimidate people who speak up about their stupid shit. You have to wonder if this idiot and his idiot brother give any thought at all to the long term consequences of their actions with regard to their reputation. It's just a guess, but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that bullying is not a quality that will attract repeat customers.

Anyone wanting to see the real John Fugate (aka..lastbidder) should read the negative comments on the link below. Some "key & very telling phases" continually show up in the comments --- "cusses and swears", "foul language", "has anger issues", "chronic complainer" etc.. etc.. .

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewUserFeedback.asp?User=392887

When combined with his comments and actions as documented in the 2 on-going threads here on the forum, it does not take a psychology degee to see that he has some real "problem issues".

I just looked at his feedback and it looked like on nearly every transaction he was buying guns off Gunbroker. When does he ever sell them? I've seen his listings on GB, but does he ever actually sell them?
