I'm glad I saw this thread before I did anything, I got the email too.

He has violated the Federal CAN-SPAM law by not providing an OPT-OUT provision, so I'm forwarding his email, as per the instructions on the FTC website, to: SPAM@UCE.GOV

If they get enough emails forwarded to them they will go after the guy, so everyone... forward those emails and let's get the scum bag.

The best way to deal with this kind of spam is directly with the ISP. ISPs respond to direct complaints. I sent the following to abuse@mediacomcc.com and abuse@mchsi.com

This email was sent to many members after seemingly mining the addresses from member information after this person was banned repeatedly for improper behavior. Well he has a website and link on the homepage to EMAIL HIM! He alredy has our email addresses so one we can fill his inbox.. What's he going to do put all incoming mail into a spam folder? If so then he will have to hire someone to seperate the very few legit emails from the crap.. I know that is lowering ourselves to his level, but right now I an a not a happy camper.. Plus at my age I could give a shit less..

Matt use to sell some nice guns at good prices; mostly collector S&W's and Colts. Based on my last transaction I was not pleased, as NIB apparently doesn't mean "new in original box" any longer. I've noticed he is actively seeking boxes, literature, and top condition guns. His prices are well above market, but some people seem to get in bidding wars on GunBroker, despite how ridiculously high the price ends up. If you've got "Vegas money" and are willing to "roll the dice", go for it! I have not seen anything appraoching realistic market value on his site in years, and certainly the blame is not on him if someone wants to pay what he asks.

As for his establishing databases of people with collectible guns, he is one of many dealer's that probably makes a good business out of doing so. No telling when you may "kick off" and a fine gentleman FFL dealer offers to buy your entire gun collection by email, from your surviving relative, spouse, or Executor of your Estate!

I just forwarded mine to abuse@mediacomcc.com, which is the email address provided by mchsi.com to report abuses, with the following note:

I received the attached SPAM email from one of your subscribers, (edit to remove the jerk's email address for posting here). This email appears to be a result of your subscriber “mining” thousands of email addresses from a forum community and sending thousands of unsolicited SPAM emails to the members of that privately owned online community, from which he has been banned for unethical behavior. I expect Mediacom to take any and all actions necessary to prevent this individual from continuing to send SPAM using your network, as such activity is specifically prohibited in your code of conduct for subscribers.

UPDATE: I received an automated reply from Mediacom and there was another email address listed for complaints: abuse@mchsi.com - I sent my complaint to that address as well

I have news for you gents. I didn't get his solicitation email but I just got this from him, I am copying and pasting here:

"Dear Sir,

Since you are still sneaking on this website and are probably reading this now or shortly I will give you my reply here.

As I stated in the post you read here within the last hour - you tried to deceive me by stating all the older S&Ws were not finished to a high polish. This is b.s and we both know it and I don't appreciate you lying about something as fundamental and basic about S&Ws, whether to an experienced collector or a novice. Because of this and past actions like emailing Ladder 13 immediately after buying a gun from this website and then offering it to him for $100.00 more, and for boasting about how "jealous" we are here - I WILL NEVER BUY A GUN FROM YOU. I have blocked your email and will be sending the gov. and your ISP a notice.
