Anyone know the weight difference between the 1950 and the 1955 (or 25) .45 acp?

Probably an ounce or two.

Or three.

It's very discernible. I owned a 1950 and have handled 1955's. The latter feels more like a M-29.

The 1950 Targets have the thin ribbed tapered barrels like the N frame 357s model 27s and 28s.
The 1955 target has the Heavy barrel much like the 29s.

Welcome to the forum. I do not know the weight of each so I can't help you. I do however have both guns in 45 acp caliber (5 screw models) and can tell you that if you want to punch paper, go with the 1955. If you want to carry, go with the 1950. The light barrel on the 1950 makes "x" ring punching very challenging. It is unforgiving however the 1955 holds like it's shot off a rest. Good luck.

that's funny, I always considered my 1950 about as accurate as a guided missile. My pre-26 really balances well, and it is one of the best shooting guns I own.

Have had both the 1950's and 1955's.
I presently have two M 1950's, and find them to be superbly accurate...the lighter barrel 'points' and holds better for me.
Both series are, however, wonderfully-accurate revolvers.

I personally like the heavier weight of the 1955 but I've found both of these guns to be very accurate. MAK

Guys, I didn't say the 1950 was not accurate, I said it was challenging. My 50 Target was put away after a few years because it would not shoot the load that is a tackdriver in anything else that is 45 acp. NOt so with the 55. One day I substituted the Lee 190 gr. swc and EUREKA, 5 shots from a rest at 25 yards into one ragged hole. But dang I have to work at it so hard and with the 55 it seems effortless. Just an opinion based on my experience. Put the rope away !!!

The 1955 Target / Model 25 6 1/2" barrel is .790 diameter - no taper.
