A local gunshop has a Model 15-3 with a factory 2" barrel and square butt, in original box. Looks original, real nice bluing and magna grips, and they are asking $550.00, (may take a little less.) Is this a common variation or are they scare in this barrel length? Is the price appropriate? It sure is pretty. Waistgunner

Less common than the 4", but not rare in our area. That price would be high in NC, not sure about CA. They are nice looking guns but a little hard to find holsters for. I sold one LNIB about two years ago here on the classifieds. Good luck with it!

Not rare but not something you see every day either. Price for here in AZ would be kind of high, sounds like it might be a good deal in CA, though.

WG.... on the 15-3 the 2" bbl's were discontinued in 1988. I've haven't seen many... in fact make that just one a few years ago and I wish I had bought it.

For CA that price is not out of line, remember it's not on the DOJ handgun roster list and none can be imported here from out of state until they reach C&R status.

Smoke 'em while you can.. I'd go for it.

I don't see many 2" versions around here, but the price seems a little steep - even for a LNIB model - but, if you don't find another for a year or so - what will you have to spend then?

Good luck with your decision. I do really like mine.

Jerry

Thanks for the input guys, if this beauty was in the 400 something range I would have to grab it. But for now, I am in the middle of a 10 wait for an incoming model 1967 blued 19-2 six inch, NMIB, Patridge, TH and TS. If anyone is interested, I will post pix upon arrival. Tick tock... Smiler

Take it and keep it!

Holsters are available from Galco. Not exactly for the 2-inch-barreled K-frame revolvers but a holster made for the M19/66 with 2.5" bbl would be fine as well.

Or order a holster at the El Paso Saddlery Company fitting your gun exactly.

I like the 15 2", even if it does have a square butt(should have been round!). If I could find one excellent or better in the box, I'd offer $450 for it. $550 is a little high I think - but I'm tight when I buy and I don't know what CA prices do in distorting your local market prices.

They are not crazy rare, don't pay too steep a premium for it.

I would love to have a 2" square but 15. I've seen a few over the years but never bought one, I'm regretting it now.

On a scale of 1 to 10, a 4" tapered barrel Model 10 being 1 and a prewar K-32 Target Masterpiece being 10, I'd put this gun at about a 3-1/2. Smiler

You don't see the 2-inch 15s nearly as much as the 4-inch ones. I would be willing to go as high as $500 for one in LNIB or NIB condition.

+1 on that. If mine had a RB I never would have gotten rid of it, but they were never made that way as far as I know.

A buddy has one now and if anybody is interested in a ftf in NC email me and I'll pass the info along to him.

I've never figured out the advantage of putting adjustable sights on such a short barrel.

Let me see, on that scale I'd put the L frames at -20, any other model with a full underlug at -30, J frames at -40 and model 58s at +100. Big Grin

I would like one for long range target work. The short barrel not only has better balance for sight alignment but the short sight radius allows you to get both sights in better focus for more precision. I have a 2" model 10 and 60 that I use for 100yd shooting but with their fixed sights you have to adjust your POA instead of your sights.
