Any of you J-frame gurus have any great insight regarding this limited run? I know it has the full underlug and the "new yoke retention system", but other than that...

Forgot one odd detail...the SN is unlike any other I have seen on a j-frame. It is marked "1-0XX" and appears to have an sideways letter "E" above the SN. I'm stumped. Any input would be appreciated.

Humm , I think you are reading the number inside the crane instead of the butt of the grip , Check the number there, That sounds like assemly number to me ,

Thanks for the info, guys. I am, indeed, looking at the number inside the crane. I'll remove the grips and check the butt strap. To be perfectly frank, I'm going to be putting it in the Classifieds shortly and I'm trying to come up with a reasonable price. I got it in trade, so I have no base number to work with.

beside the S# inside the crane, mine is marked 560

on the grip frame left hand side mine has a large E, B9164, large U and small S. Right hand side 560 and some other numbers

bottom of grip is S# starting with CAR-606X(hmmm, maybe mine is one of the 1st 60?)

hope that helps

and I am looking for another one....so shoot me an email if wanting to sell it Smiler

have any great insight regarding this

Had one LNIB, but I evaluate most of my J frames on usefulness as a CCW gun. It didn't seem to have much value in that regard, so I let it go. In comparison to a M66 2.5", it weighed only 1 oz. less but gave up capacity and the option for .357, so I sold it. The M60-4 is different, but those differences did not add functional value for me.

My semi-qualified $0.02:
I've got one and it's a great shooter; sort of a mini-686. Now, stiab is quite correct; it's not the best CCW. However, for a woods walking-plinking-fun gun, I think that it would be hard to beat. I don't see a lot of them around, they seem to have sort of a cult following, and despite the fact that I seldom shoot mine, I think that it would be one of the last of mine to willingly be sold off. That said, I'd put a buying value of around $450 on one. However, I wouldn't sell mine for that price. I know, that doesn't make rational sense; probably cause I'm neither looking to buy or sell. -S2

I'm with Speedo2, I wouldn't sell mine for $450 but would buy another for that without having to think about it.

The 60-4 is a superb trail gun. I have used mine for edible small game with excellent results. It is amazing how well this revolver shoots. I Often just shoot the classic target load (148 gr WC ahead of 2.7-3.0 grs of Bullseye or equivalent). If I need something with a bit more punch, I just load up a 158gr SWC ahead of 4.2 Bullseye or equivalent (Speer #12). Did I tell you how well this revolver shoots? Big Grin

When I need to go light on the trail, I often choose between this or it's little sister, a 631 4" (.32 H&R Magnum). Either hits that "sweet spot" of EXACTLY what the Dr. ordered! Big Grin

Not sure how many they made, but were a limited run. I have the 36-6 which is a Flat Black twin for the 60-4. It is one of my favorites, and extreamly accurate. Great balance. It's the bottom one in the attached photo.
