Red sight insert is cracked on my 29-2 and looking to see if there are any easy replacements for this. Smith said that I would have to send it to them and that they use special tooling to replace the insert. Also have seen do it yourself kits from Brownells, etc. Contacted Numrich but waiting on reply. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'd probably just replace it myself.. Follow some of Larry's tips to do it yourself!

Thanks for the info, forgot about Midway. Brownells has made their own kit much like the Midway materials used. Might try it for a project as I believe Smith wanted alot of money for the job and my 29-2 is more of a shooter than a collectors piece.

i have done them using two small flat pieces of wood as a form, a small clamp, and two part epoxy mixed with a little flourescent orange paint. you can't tell the difference from a factory job. cost is pennies.
