First and foremost I wanted to show off my new 3in 625 I picked up this week Big Grin. I paid way to much for it but I'm glad I did it. SWEEEEEET shooting gun! The 5 in was always a bit barrel heavy for me and everybody has a 4 inch Wink

The rear sight appears to me to possibly be an aftermarket. It has the blade at the rear with white outlining. Can anyone confirm this? Also, did these come from the factory with the Pachmayr grips? TIA

Congrats on your 3" 625. If you ever tire of the old girl give me a call.

The rear sight on the 3" gun appears to be a Millett, after market sight.

My 625 5" came with a hogue monogrip. I'm betting the packmayr is an owner upgrade.

My guess is that the Pachmayr are the original grips. That's the way mine came. Just curious . . . what did you lay out for the 3" baby?

Well.... I picked it up on Gunbroker and he accepted credit cards so I pretty much decided after a few beers that I was NOT going to be out bid Razzer. I ended up winning it at $770. Not a good deal by any standard but hey, I wanted it and I can always make more money but there aren't going to be any more of these.

The rear sight is made by Millet, definitely an aftermarket install. Much harder to tell what the front sight is. My guess is that it is aftermarket as well, as the S&W sights have a much longer base with a more gradual or shallow ramp angle. Most folks that install the Millet sights say the sight picture is much better than the originals.

If you felt like you wanted to restore the original sights a complete S&W-manufactured rear sight and base can be had from MidwayUSA for around $50, but there are several blade heights to choose from. There are also S&W front sights available, again, with multiple heights offered (about $10), and you have to drill a hole for the retaining pin yourself. Not going to be cheap, especially if you get a gunsmith involved to do the work. Very easy to crack off and wreck the sight base as the retaining pin hole will be close to the edge.

If your 3-incher is a 625-2 or 625-3 the Pachmayr grips are the factory type. There was a switch to Hogues after this, not sure which model.

It is a 625-3. Thanks for the confirmation that the rear sight is a Millet. They work great and for me an improvement over the stock ones that are on my 5 inch so I have no intention to remove them.
