I was going through some stuff and came across a Barami Hip Grip that I used to use with my M38 some years back. Along with it was the Tyler T-Grip that I had bought to go with it, but never installed. So anyway I go and mount the set-up on my 342Ti. Man is it slick. Carries like a dream. Anyone else ever use one of these? I highly recommend one. I don't even know if they are still in business or not.
For those who don't know, these grips are a hard black plastic (I think other colors were available) that are basically shaped like a magna style grip. The right side grip is taller than a standard magna and pulls away from the frame of the gun forming a hook. This acts as your holster. IWB carry with the hook portion of the grip grabbing your belt line. I have used it successfully both with and without a belt. I know these were also made for the Colt D frames and I believe even the S&W K frames. ----------------------------- An empty gun is a poorly balanced club.--unknown "Government does not solve problems, it subsidizes them."--Ronald Reagan Enjoy the day. |

That's a very cool "Old School Pistolero" set up.
You can still find them online and occasionally at retail...usually in a dusty package... Barami Hip Grip Nice find. "I'll be needin' that for squirrels and such." |

As far as I know, the Hip Grip is still offered for sale. I never used one since I prefer a holster. And I'm not sure if they're available for N Frame revolvers, which are what I carry.
Years ago I ordered a T Grip for a Redhawk. The only one available was the version that had a "finger groove" and naturally the hump was in the wrong place (for my finger size). It was very uncomfortable and I never used it. The smooth version seems much more sensible, and I wish the manufacturers would stop giving us these ridiculous finger grooved products. I'm starting to believe that they really don't fit anybody. Dave Sinko |

My boss has used a hip grip on a J frame since the early 70's when he worked for BNDD. He still uses it sometimes.
