The great thread on steel and leather got me thinking we should have a similar thread for antique top breaks. Here are two photos of my only two antique top breaks. The first one is a 2nd Model American Commercial Russian Model from around 1873 and the second one is a New Model #3 that letters with a 6" barrel and was shipped in 1880, also in 44 Russian. While I'm at it, I've posted a third photo of a 2nd Model Schofield that I sold in order to get the 2nd Model American. Smiler

Great guns and the photography is excellent. It inspires me to some of my older guns.
Thanks

Kirk - Another great thread. Your No. 3's are inspirational. The other posts are great too.
Here is a picture of my Model of 1891, SN 45xx.

Once again, I'm impressed with the photographic talent on this forum. I especially like the period accessories that have been included in the photos .... it kind of gives more of an historical context to the top breaks. I'd encourage more fellows with old top breaks to see if they can put a photo together. If you're not sure how to do the lighting, unless you are good with a flash, try and use available light. Throw in some other antique accessories, fool around with the arrangement a bit, and you're good to go.

Wow! There's some beautiful old S&W's pictured here. Amazing!

Here are my two.

1893 1st Model Safety Hammerless .32 (it was in horrible condition on the outside so I "brought it back" with engraving and old style blueing by Michael Gouse. The genuine S&W pearl handles are not original to the gun but they just looked too good not screw 'em on!

The 1917 5th Model Safety Hammerless .38 is unfired and all original.

mm6mm6... Great photos! I like the low, closeup shots. Having it loaded gives it a better look. I keep forgetting to load mine when I take the pics.

Here's a another shot or so of my "one and only S&W topbreak":

Digi-Shots, our 5th Model .38's are very close to each other. Mine was shipped October 18th, 1917 to Hibbard, Spencer, and Bartlett Company, Chicago.

Your pictures are outstanding! I love that old ankle holster, what a collectible!

This is currently my only top break, shown with period ammo plus period correct silver & gold.

My local pusher has an early lemon squeezer in very nice condition that I have been contemplating, now waiting for my C&R to arrive.
