Could anyone give me a general idea when .38 M&P #5648XX was made? I am going to guess around
1925-26. If I'm wrong, please correct me. Thanks!

I'd say closer to mid to late 30's. 241704 - 700000 made 1915-1942. What records I have woould seem to indicate that sn's for the frame you are inquiing about would start 4XXXXX

I think you are about right. From my records,

which is Aug 1927.

Thanks fellows! That gives me a starting point. The gun is very nice and looks like its hardly
been used much, probably just sat in a drawer. 5" barrel and looks new on the inside. One area
on the top that's rough, looks like someone scraped it against something hard. Normal end-of-
barrel wear, but minimal. Asking $550 out the door.

I have 538875 and it was shipped in August 1926
