I'm new to the forum and have a question on a Registered Magnum. A customer brought in the pistol with a set of home made grips. Is there a sourse for replacement grips? Original grips would be nice but I don't hold out much hope for those. I was able to convince the owner to send for a factory letter on this pistol. He has not got a clue as to the value of this item. Thanks

Registered magnum grips are no different that any other pre-WW2 grips, in
the context of their being a source for replacement grips. Keith Brown is
making pre-WW2 magnas, but I don't know what the prices are going to be.

First, your customer needs to know how the gun was shipped. It could have
had magnas, it could have had the small silver medallion grips with or
without the grip adapters. Or, it could have been some exotic grips like
Ivory, etc. A secondary issue would be the barrel length . If the gun
has a different barrel than what it was shipped with, then he may have
less interest in the grips.

There are grips available from collectors, and from the various auctions.
They are not cheap, and can be very expensive.

Your advice of the letter is very good advice.

Home made grips? Can we see a picture of them, or can you describe them for us?

Mike and Geof,
Thanks for the quick replys. I'm hoping the factory letter will have some information on the original grips. I'm not familiar with Kieth Brown, can you supply an address or phone. The owner wants to improve the appearance rather than bring the gun up to new condition.
I have several digital pictures of the gun but don't know how to post them to this forum. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks
Dan

Keith posts here as BIS45 (I think), and he's almost always at the OGCA show (one this weekend.) Now that he's "retired" he's making grips more as a business than as a hobby. I would guess that he's looking for more business all the time, and that his delivery times have gotten shorter. Just guesses.

Keith's website is http://www.classiccarvedgrips.com/

As to posting pictures, they need to be placed on a public hosting site,
like www.photobucket.com , or others. Then, the address of the
picture needs to be prefixed with [IMG] , and terminated with
[/IMG] . Set up that way, this site will opening the pictures.

If you are still having problems, email them to me at
gilu@comcast.net, and I will set them up for you. You can visit
photobucket, and just follow their registration procedure, etc.
