Is there any documentation that this configuration was made by the factory? I have never seen one in this configuration (but that doesn't mean anything), but I have a gentleman that told me he has a S&W blue finish round butt, 2" in .32 WCF.

Probably a cut down, correct?
Or should I get my hopes up? Wink

I can find documentation that it wasn't in several places, but none that it was. Also, the 1927 price catalog(P-2) states it is supplied only in square butt. I guess there could always be a special order though.

Andy, Most likely it's a cut down, however with S&W you can never say never, as the factory would make you most anything you could pay for. Somebody could well have sent a Model 1902 round butt .32-20 back to the factory to reduce the barrel length to 2 inches, or had it done by a gunsmith. ( I'm assuming the gun is a K frame - modifying a J frame .32 Long to .32-20 is an iffy proposition.)

I'd offer odds that its not factory. More often than not, I would win !
Which is why I could offer odds.

Does NOT sound "factory" as "32/20 Snub" is a contradiction.

The 32/20 needs velocity to be effective, even with the original 115 gr. BP/smokeless loads.
A 2" pipe won't give that!

Still wonder if the gun mentioned is not an I frame .32 S&W long?? Confused

Bud

I agree with this statement. Big Grin

However, as I heard a famous man say once,
"Never say never with S&W."

I'm going to take a look at the gun tomorrow, I hope. Crossing my fingers, but am 99.9999% certain that Mike and Handejector are correct.

However, if it is real, you hear from me on it. Wink
