I have been doing much searching and reading on this forum and others. Please tell me about this revolver that my Grandpa has given to me. Thank you in advance...Jeff

Marked 38 S+W Special CTG on the barrel. REG.US.PAT.OFF. on the hammer. Serial number is 547225. I believe it is a Model 10 M+P manufactured between 1942 and 1944. The gun is in good shape with a little wear on the end of the barrel which appears to be from holstering. Take care..Jeff

This is a Model of 1905, from about 1927. Collectors would refer to
this as a 1905 4th change. The grips are correct -they are
called the convex non-medallion grip. They, and the whole gun,
look very nice.

I doubt its been carried in a holster. That minor wear on the end
of the barrel may just be from sitting in a box, or in a drawer, etc.

The model 10 is the version of this gun from the 1950's.

Later, Mike Priwer

Thanks Mike!! I like to know about all of my firearms, (and my research on this one was sure off) the reading I have done on this site indicates many subtle variations on this gun. Although, I was able to learn a great deal on my Model 15-3 I inherited from my dad. I can not thank you enough for the information. The S+W book will be purchased soon. Thanks again...Jeff
