I believe that is 1947. I have a 5" that I think is S934--- and it is 1947 I believe. People commonly call these "transitional" military & police ("M&P's) models - incorporating some pre-war inventory (one line address on the r. side of the frame, "high horn" magna grips, etc) and some post-war features. The S indicated a hammer-block safety incorporated during the war. The "S" series ended at a 999,999 in 1948 and then went to a "C" prefix. Your gun should be blue (unless nickeled), and have a pre-war "long action" trigger/hammer action and pre-war hammer. If you are able to post a picture, others might be able to point out other interesting features of them. Some consider them quite interesting because of the "jumble" of features.
Physics 101: "Velocity" is speed and direction. Otherwise it's just "speed."
