I usually spend my time in the modern section but found this barrel and was wondering if it has any value. The SN stamped on it is 46693. The S&WCA site lists the gun as being destroyed by the FBI. It has a King front sight on it.

Great catch...

No question it has value... exactly how much is hard to say... yoiu don't see many of these, so the price is basically what someone will pay you for it... I don't recall seeing a Reg barrel in years.

If you decide to sell it, I 'd love to have an opportunity to make an offer on it.

FWIW

Chuck

Gee, just think that if the reason the gun was destroyed was it was used in a major crime and the fired slugs are "in the system", and someone mounted this on a frame and it was used again and checked against the system hmmmmm, wouldn't that blow someone's mind.

This is not from a crime gun. This is from a gun that was sold to the FBI and when they phased out of this model they destroyed them.

The crime is that the FBI works for us and rather than selling old guns to the public, like the CMP, and recooping some of the original purchase price, they opted to destroy them. Wonder if the people will ever wake up and realize that WE are the government?

HMM, I wander what the FBI's definition of "destroyed" is? If it was actually destroyed I would think there would not be anything left.

Generally, I think that the frames were cut. Someone probably just unscrewed the barrel from the front half. It looks like the threads are in pretty sad shape, but that could just be debris.

It would be interesting (read: depressing) to know how many RM's the FBI actually destroyed. Anyone ever hear any estimates?
