About these rare grips, are the medallions in them smaller in diameter than the medallions on pre war N frame magnas? Only N frame magnas had the larger medallions?
I am talking about high horn magnas, and not the early service grips (where the wood panel ended just beyond the medallion). Geoff. I am in the process of restoring a set of these and the medallions are the standard size. It should be noted that the checkering and borders are the same as the N frame counter parts. It should also be noted that the medallions had a certain artistic flair to them that are not apparent from the fifties and on. Just like early American money, coins and bills, there was an artistry that couldn't be equaled. Take a good look at your early and later grips and you'll see what I mean. I've spent way to much time looking at this stuff under a magnifying glass.
