More S&W trouble, there are these miniature versions of the M&P, I try to look away and not think of them but....well you know.

They are in .32 and a guy at the range shot .32 ACP in one.

So, tell me about them and any other versions so I don't get skinned getting one for occasional shooting. The ammo will be light handloads using cast bullets, any load advice? Price advice would be a big help too.

Thanks

They are actually chambered in 32 S&W Long, but both 32 S&W short (ok with factory) and 32 ACP (NOT ok with factory) will fit in the chambers and fire. 32 ACP might give problems ejecting as it is technically a semi-rimmed cartridge and the ejector will push through the cases very easily. Factory will tell you not to use this cartridge as it is loaded to higher pressures than the gun's design allows; and as these guns are 60-100+ years old I wouldn't shoot 32 ACP in them.
These guns are fun little plinkers, but difficult to shoot with target accuracy, just like the post-war J-frames. Really work on your shooting technique or put it into a mechanical rest and you will get surprised though, they are accurate - just difficult to shoot well. Be happy with minute of tin can/balloon/swinger accuracy at 10-25 yards and they are a great afternoon of fun. Little recoil and since you handload they are fairly cheap to shoot as you mostly use 1.5-2.0 grains of fast powder (Red Dot, Bullseye, Clays, AA#2; Titegroup & 231 on the slow side) and 85-100 grain lead bullets in a 32 Long case. You should be able to find shooter (vs collectable) examples for under $300 dollars, and occasionally a real deal at maybe $100 if you find one that has sat in a shop for a few years.
