Can anyone give me any info on this S&W I have. I've been told it's late 1800's to early 1900's. It has .32 S&W CTCC (I think) stamped on the left side of the barrel. I can't read the serial number, it looks like it has a little rust and I didn't know if I should try to clean it or not. Six shot revolver with with the # 404 stamped into the loading end of the mag(thing that holds the bullets). As you can tell I don't know anything about firearms. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Dan R. I can't get the image to appear in my post.....here is a link S&W .32 |

It's not a S&W. The Target logo on the grip panels are Harrington & Richardson. The 32 S&W CTG merely means what it is chambered for.
These little top breaks were made from around 1889 to 1940. Not worth much in the condition it's in. Dean SWCA #680 |

This ought to be the picture:
I don't think this is a Smith & Wesson. The grips don't look right, the hammer doesn't look right. But I'm not knowledgeable about these early top-breaks. Later, Mike Priwer |

The S&W on the barrel just indicated that it is in the ".32 Smith & Wesson" caliber. That is what is Now called .32 S&W Short! Because there is [b]"Now"[b/] a .32 S&W Long. Mike KKG - Again!!! PS:
Don't let this discourage you. You are a breath of fresh air as you at least recognize it as a POC. Most folks want to take a rusted gun and insist it is worth a fortune, even if they haven;t a clue. Good luck. Ed |
